Abstract

J. G. Millers Living Systems Theory is a main representative for the older, so called functionalist systems approaches. As such however, it may not be seen as an outdated branch of the systems movement. Contrary, by combining LST by cutting edge technol-ogy, such as transparent (ubiquitous) com-puting, and emerging new research areas, such as anticipation and anticipatory systems, the theory may serve as a powerful and versatile tool in the design and develop-ment of human support systems and man machine symbiotic software. Further, the theory may as well be handled within the frameworks of critical systems thinking, multimethodology and multi dimensional systems thinking.
